Star Wars 7: 6 Reasons That Adam Driver Will Be Jacen Solo
2. The Vader-like Villain Connection
The biggest clue of all to Adam Driver playing Jacen Solo is the hint that he will be playing a Vader-like villain. I've referenced it a number of times so far but it needs to be analyzed further with respect to who Darth Vader is and his connection to the entire franchise. If we're to assume that the story group was established with the purpose of combining the canon of the films and all the works of the EU, it fits perfectly that Driver will play the grandson of Darth Vader who struggles with his heritage to the Dark Lord of the Sith. It's been speculated that Ian McDiarmid who played Palpatine in both the prequel trilogy and original trilogy may also be tied to the film. Is it possible that we will see him as some sort of Dark Side Force ghost? It's possible - after all, we've seen Jedi Force ghosts, why not those from the Dark Side that could influence a young Jedi Knight or the grandson of Anakin Skywalker? In the EU, Jacen's path to the Dark Side is a long one and for the sake of expediency it will need to be rushed for the films. It can't be as quick as Anakin's fall in Revenge of the Sith but should occur at some point in Episode VIII. I believe that there will be someone lurking in the shadows that has ties to Palpatine's Empire that ultimately lures Driver/Jacen to the Dark Side with the promise that he will be saving the galaxy. Much like Anakin's fall in the prequel trilogy, Jacen's fall should be similar as he has the best intentions that will bring about the worst outcomes. The interesting part will be whether or not by trilogy's end we see the redemption of Jacen or his complete fall to the Dark Side.
