Star Wars 7: 8 Expanded Universe Villains We Could See For Episode VII

4. Lumiya

Throughout all of the Star Wars films the villains have been the Sith: cloaked in mystery through the prequel trilogy and ruling the galaxy in the original trilogy. It was believed among the Jedi and mentioned in the Phantom Menace that the Sith had been extinct for nearly 1,000 years. The Sith had adopted what was known as the Rule of Two: one master and one apprentice. This philosophy would help the Sith survive and play behind the scenes until they were once again strong enough to wipe out the Jedi and rule the galaxy. Lumiya is a character that made her first appearance way back in 1981 when Marvel was doing comics for Star Wars (fitting that both products are now owned by Disney?). Over the years her story has grown from a dark acolyte of Vader and Palpatine to a Sith follower that lurked in the shadows before making her own power play to bring the glory of the Sith back. Throughout the Expanded Universe, Lumiya plays a role in a number of events that the reader never really knows about until she is finally revealed in the Legacy of the Force book series. Lumiya would make for a great villain as she works in secrecy and shadow much like Sidious did prior to his emergence. She is also involved in the changing of the landscape with the Sith and their philosophy from the Rule of Two to the One Sith. Lumiya is pivotal in bringing one of the most loved Expanded Universe characters to the Dark Side. More on that later...
