Star Wars: 7 Perfect Performances & 7 That Sucked
4. Mark Hamill As Luke Skywalker
Perhaps the most impressive thing about Mark Hamill's portrayal of Luke Skywalker is the range that he shows while doing it. In A New Hope, Luke is an immature farm boy with a heart of gold, who is desperate to find his greater place in the galaxy - which Hamill played to perfection. As Luke matured during the original trilogy, Mark expanded on his performance as the character struggles with the revelation about his father and the pull to the dark side of the Force.
However, the absolute best of Hamill's acting shines in The Last Jedi where he brought to life a different side to a character we had known for forty years. The emotionally troubled Skywalker has become a hermit on the planet Ahch-To after blaming himself for failing his nephew, Ben Solo.
Mark Hamill delivered an absolutely staggering performance that makes it difficult to take your eyes off of him in each scene he appears. It is no doubt that he was cast perfectly as the character of Luke Skywalker and has proven it with performances in three different decades.
