3. Andy Serkis - Sex & Drugs & Rock And Roll
One of the two more established actors announced for the film is Andy Serkis, who is predominantly known for his motion capture performances in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy (as Gollum), King Kong (as the titular ape) and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (as Caesar). It is not yet known whether Serkis will be mo-capping a character once again or physically appearing on the screen, though he is as capable at the latter as he is in the former, as evidenced in the BAFTA nominated Sex & Drugs & Rock And Roll. In this film, Serkis gives a sublime performance as Ian Dury, the lead singer of Ian Dury & The Blockheads, as his ascension in the British new wave music scene and a childhood battle with polio that left him disabled are depicted. Almost everybody has seen the Lord Of The Rings trilogy and appreciates Serkis' contribution to it, but Sex & Drugs showcases another side of his talents, and should be taken in by fans as they await to see what he will bring to the Star Wars series.
