Star Wars: 8 Ideas For A Live-Action TV Show

5. Something Completely New

The Star Wars universe is so vast and so complex that even if a television show was to focus on completely unknown characters it would likely still be awesome. And perhaps that's not such a bad idea.

No matter how noble the intention, there will always be fans upset at returning to previous characters, worried about damaging them or changing them in some irreparable way. And it's true: revisiting old favourites can mean disregarding timelines and logic merely for fan service. So why not create a show with one-hundred percent fresh characters?

Something truly "new" yet set in the Star Wars universe has huge potential. Why not focus on a band of smugglers, taking inspiration from a weighty crime drama like Breaking Bad? Viewers could watch them grow from a small-time operation with good intentions into something else entirely, being roped into more dangerous conflicts than they ever expected. Heck, set it on a planet we've never seen before (one in which the setting matches the potential budget).

Television is the place to tell a story like this because it's the only medium that's really feasible. With the show centring on all new characters, it could also use up and coming or unknown actors. Financing a film without at least one movie star is an insanely risky idea, so it'd be much safer to unveil a completely fresh perspective on television.
