The Theory

The Star Wars saga has show willingness to cross-pollenate between the mediums of film, animation and books in recent years, and a Snoke candidate has emerged within the pages of the canonical prequel novel trilogy Star Wars: Aftermath.

Set in the wake of Return of the Jedi, Chuck Wendig’s three-part story reveals how Snoke's First Order rose from the Empire's ashes and focuses on a machiavellian Imperial admiral named Gallius Rax.

Rax is a Snoke conspiracy theorist's dream - he had a working relationship with Darth Sidious, witnessed the fall of the Empire and there are even hints he's Force-sensitive.

How Credible Is it?

It was almost credible right up to the third book in the series, Empire's End, in which Rax was apparently killed.

There's also nothing in the novels to explain how the character went from human in appearance to a seven-foot humanoid alien.
