Star Wars: 9 Ideas For The New Trilogy & TV Show

4. A Non-Force Threat

Every episodic Star Wars movie comes down to the Dark Side and the Light. Heck, even Rogue One had a heavy use of it, once again focusing on the dichotomy of the Rebels vs the Empire. So what about a new trilogy that really does something completely different, and sees the new heroes fighting against a threat that doesn't use (and isn't necessarily weak against) the Force?

The Yuuzhan Vong are an example of this, which could be adapted - but more just give an indicator of what they could do. They come from outside of the galaxy, and aren't able to be sensed through the Force, confounding the Jedi.

The threats we've seen the galaxy face have come from Sith Lords and planet-destroying weapons, and this would be a chance to do something on an even bigger scale, with the creatures themselves possessing a raft of never-before-seen powers and abilities. This could be built up over the course of the trilogy, from the first sign of the coming threat, which then escalates across the series to the climactic, galaxy-defining showdown.
