Star Wars: 9 Lightsabers You Didn't Know Exist (And What They Mean)

Despite existing in the current canon, the Mandalorian Darksaber has actually been doing the rounds in Star Wars' expanded canon for a good few decades. It survived the EU's reboot in 2012 and for good reason - it looks really, really cool.

Created by the first ever Mandalorian Jedi, Tarre Visla, during the days of the Old Republic, the Darksaber was a unique, black-coloured lightsaber that attained legendary status in the years following Visla's passing. The Mandalorians later infiltrated and stole the blade from the Jedi Temple following Visla's passing, where it then became a symbol of tyranny and Mandalore's former greatness during the Clone Wars.

After being wielded by the Mandalorian group known as Death Watch, and even by Darth Maul too, the blade found its way to Dathomir. Mandalorian rebel Sabine Wren, who used it in a duel to secure Mandalorian support for the Rebellion against the Empire.

Compared to most other lightsabers though, the Darksaber is unique in the sense that it's one of a kind. No other Darksabers have appeared in the present Star Wars canon, making this particular weapon especially important.
