Star Wars: 9 Lightsabers You Didn't Know Exist (And What They Mean)
4. Shoto Lightsaber
Although this may be slightly cheating, given one of the most famous characters in Star Wars history wields a Shoto blade, the specific name itself isn't exactly common knowledge, nor are the Jedi who utilised them in tandem with a more traditional blade.
Shoto lightsabers were effectively regular lightsabers only with a shorter hilt and blade. They were effectively daggers, and enabled Jedi confronting multiple enemies at once to deploy a unique fighting style. Shorter Jedi, like Yoda, also employed the Shoto blade, as wielding a larger weapon would've been impossible given their stature.
Ahsoka Tano gained a Shoto saber during the Clone Wars, utilising a yellow-green bladed one to go with her traditional green lightsaber. She appears to have switched to a blue and purple variation for Season 7, but it remains to be seen why that's the case.
