Star Wars 9 Title: What Does 'The Rise Of Skywalker' Really Mean?

6. "Skywalker" Could Be A New Order Of Force Users

One of the more intriguing theories regarding the title suggests that it is indeed a fake-out regarding Rey's parentage, and it will actually refer to her eventually ditching the Jedi Order entirely.

Rather, Rey will start a new order of Force user who aren't bound to the black-and-white specificity of either the Jedi or the Sith - and as a tribute to Luke, they will be called "Skywalkers".

Skywalkers would basically be the new Gray Jedi, walking a fine line between the light and dark sides of the Force, and no longer restricted by the strict confines of the Jedi/Sith designations.

This would be an incredibly neat and creative way to throw out the franchise's rather tired light/dark dichotomy and totally reinvent it for future movies - because let's be clear, there's no way in hell Lucasfilm will make us wait that long for Episode X.

This would also tie in quite fittingly with The Last Jedi, given that Luke was that namesake, and Rey will usher in a new type of Force user. This is probably the theory to bet money on, honestly.
