Star Wars: 9 Unused Force Awakens Concepts That Need To Be Revisited
8. Crime City
Before Abrams and co. settled on only slightly revamping the classic Han Solo look for The Force Awakens, concept artists Christian Alsmann and Iain McCain had suggested presenting the aged smuggler as a Jeff Bridges in True Grit brand of tired, bearded gunslinger. Ryan Churchs image above presents this version of Han seated at a bar in a locale named Crime City. The Mos Eisley Cantina parallels in this Solo-starring Crime City artwork are obvious this is a bar where two no-good evil aliens have seemingly confronted Han, and he has had to shoot them. Imagine a whole city like that: a grubby setting teeming with criminals, death-threats and impromptu shoot-outs. This sounds like something that lots of fans would love to see in Episode VIII or IX. Itd certainly be very far removed from the Tatooine-aping deserts of Jakku and the lush green landscapes of Takodana (the planet that Maz resides on) that we saw in The Force Awakens. And although we probably wont be seeing Han Solo wandering around again after the events of The Force Awakens, it seems plausible that Crime City could yet make an appearance. Other pieces of concept art pointed to the exteriors of Crime City resembling a Japanese market of sorts (full of stylish buildings with curved roofs), which could provide a unique location for an upcoming movie.
