Star Wars: 9 Unused Force Awakens Concepts That Need To Be Revisited

7. Rey Vs. Star Destroyer

Ryan Church drew the image above, and another one along the same lines, that displayed Rey whizzing underneath the Star Destroyer in a smaller ship, wielding a lightsaber; she's bringing down a Star Destroyer with a lightsaber. These images presumably came from a stage in the development process where the story beats of the movie hadn€™t been plotted out yet. As it ended up, The Force Awakens didn€™t have time for a space battle between Rey and a Star Destroyer. Episode VIII or IX, though, might have room for such a sequence. An action scene like this could be truly awesome. It€™d showcase Rey€™s inventiveness under pressure, as well as giving us some nifty visuals to enjoy and providing an apt microcosm of the battle between good and evil that dominates the Star Wars franchise. Just as The Empire Strikes Back expanded on the battles seen in A New Hope by introducing AT-AT walkers and T-47 Snowspeeders, Episode VIII could show us a unique space scrap like this to set itself apart from The Force Awakens. Let€™s hope so, because this image is really cool.
