Star Wars: 9 Unused Force Awakens Concepts That Need To Be Revisited

6. Scrap Spaceship

Here€™s a closer look at the ship that Rey was piloting in the image from the previous page, courtesy of concept artist Janick Dusseault. This picture shows Rey tinkering in one of the wings of her ship, which is unlike just about anything we€™ve seen in Star Wars before. It€™s essentially a Scrapheap Challenge version of a Star Wars spaceship - a one-man fighter that Rey has cobbled together from the spare bits and pieces that she could find lying around. One of the wings resembles an X-Wing, but the other comes from something far shorter. The cockpit looks like something else entirely, too, possibly a Y-Wing. It€™s very cool, isn€™t it? As well as being cool, it's also reminiscent of Anakin Skywalker€™s podracer that he built himself in The Phantom Menace. Both have that unfinished-but-it€™ll-have-to-do look to them that seems perfectly in keeping with Rey and Anakin's lots in life. Sadly, The Force Awakens didn€™t really have space for this charmingly homemade spaceship. Rey and Finn had to end up on the Millennium Falcon instead, in order to facilitate their meeting with Han Solo and Chewbacca. Hopefully the next film will find room for it.
