Star Wars Episode 7: 10 Rumours That Have Us Anxious
7. The Expanded Universe Hits the Limelight
As stated above the problem with Episode VII is that it is happening years past the primes of the original actors. Consequently however likely it is that the new film will this time draw on source material from the Expanded Universe for help, the significant problem will be choosing which part to pull from. What is highly unlikely is that the new trilogy will be able to completely ignore the Expanded Universe all together in favor of completely original Star Wars tales. The lives of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia are already scripted out from the time of birth to death with very little gaps remaining. So what part of EU will Episode VII draw upon? Since all the original actors are now up in years it seems the movies will have to focus on that and leaves only one place to go: the New Jedi Order novels and the threat of the alien Yuuzahn Vong. The Vong, who pride themselves on being sick and twisted beings from beyond known space whose equipment is 100% organic material are depicted in the picture above. Is it possible that the new villains in Episode VII will look like orcs from Lord of the Rings? Let the comparisons and franchise fist fighting begin.
