2. James Cameron
Love him or hate him, James Cameron is the most successful director of all time. His C.V is filled with some of the best movies in the last 2 decades. He has won 3 Oscars. Most importantly, he would create a truly unique vision that could change the future of Star Wars forever. But would fans accept him? Probably not. And Disney wouldn't either. Cameron is notorious for going over budget and delaying movies. Huge issues for Disney. Whatever happens, Disney will want to recoup as much money as they can with a guarantee of 1 movie every two years. Cameron just isn't a safe enough bet. Sticking to a schedule while trying to shoot the Avatar Sequels would be near impossible and while I reckon Cameron would create a spectacular Episode VII, Disney won't let him near it. Maybe for the next trilogy in 2020?
