Star Wars Episode 7: 7 Reasons Why The Yuuzhan Vong Should Appear

4. It Allows For A More Varied War Story

Although the wars shown in the Star Wars are invariably thrilling and always look great, they're all a bit samey. It's all pitched battles on land or in space. Which is great for a while but after six films, the novelty starts to wear thin. Whether it's a real war or a science fiction one, there's going to be more to it than huge battles. The closest we ever came to that in the other Star Wars films was the Battle Of Endor beginning as a more subtle commando raid. Other aspects of war need to enter the Star Wars films and using the Yuuzhan Vong could easily help to facilitate that. The storyline of the war against the Vong would be more varied than usual with their first true appearance being a single Vong agent infiltrating a research station and completely reshaping the planet with an insect-induced plague to use the planet as a shipyard. As well as that, another significant event during the War is a mission led by Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin Solo to destroy the Voxyn; hybrid creatures genetically engineered by the Vong to fight Jedi. It's smaller scale events like that as well as many other moments during the war where the New Republic and the Vong attempt to outmanoeuvre each other or develop new strategies and technology to gain an advantage that would help the Sequel Trilogy to deliver a variation on the classic war storyline.
