Star Wars: Episode 8 - 10 Major Twists That Could Shake The Galaxy

9. Rey€™s Parents Aren€™t Skywalkers

As soon as the first screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens has concluded, fans began speculating about who the heck Rey€™s parents are. €˜Is Daisy Ridley€™s character of Skywalker descent?€™ everybody asked, €˜and, if so, is she Luke or Leia€™s daughter?€™ These theories and rumours became so persistent that it€™d now hardly be a twist at all if she was revealed in Episode VIII as a Skywalker.

In fact, it€™d be a bigger twist if she wasn't. If Luke and Leia both deny the parentage of Rey, many audience members would be shocked to hear that their theories weren€™t correct. But, if she€™s not a Skywalker, where did Rey originate from? And what was that whole lightsaber-calling-to-her vision sequence all about?

Perhaps Rey is just really strong with the Force, meaning somehow that she could sense the importance of the lightsaber and thusly pick up all these strong echoes from it. Flashes of Luke and Anakin€™s lives appeared to her, because it was their weapon and they€™d left some kind of Force imprint on it. Her relation to them €“ or lack thereof €“ actually had nothing to do with it.

Maybe Rey is linked to another powerful Force family that viewers don€™t know about yet, or perhaps she€™s just a total anomaly who€™s not related to anyone. Episode VIII is bound to give us answers one way or another.
