Star Wars: Episode 8: 7 Things We Want From The First Trailer

5. A Look At The New Characters

Besides the familiar faces you're expecting - Rey, Finn, Poe - Episode 8 is bringing a handful of new faces into play, including renowned industry veterans Benicio Del Toro and Jurassic Park's Laura Dern. And, as is the case with any and all Star Wars casting news, speculation has been rife but details have been kept firmly shrouded in secrecy.

We know little about the two actors' roles in the movie, and beside the fact that they have indeed been cast, we don't know anything about who they might be playing. And while the forthcoming trailer would be wise to avoid being too spoilerific, detail-heavy and revelatory with regards to each specific character, it would be a cool treat if we were offered a glimpse of them both in costume.

For starters, this would give us a much clearer idea about the role they have to play in the film, and silence any truly wild fan theories (some believe Dern is playing the daughter of Emperor Palpatine - unlikely).

It can't hurt to start feeding audiences these newer characters as early as possible either; it's safe to assume they'll be a big part of the saga going forward (you don't hire heavy hitters like this for a small role) and getting people on board with them sooner rather than later will aid their reception in the final film.
