2. Hux Will Betray The First Order

A lot of Episode IX rumours revolve around cameos, small scenes, or specific details, with the actual meat of the plot being kept very well-hidden. This one, however, is the exception to that rule.

A major story detail that began circulating not too long ago, the movie will supposedly find Kylo Ren attempting to track down a mole within The First Order - a mole that will eventually turn out to be General Hux.

The rumour posits that Hux - driven by his hatred and jealousy of Kylo - will begin feeding information to the Resistance. He doesn't believe that young Ben Solo is a worthy successor to the deceased Supreme Leader Snoke, and so attempts to make The First Order's new leader look inept by helping their biggest enemy.

Hux's ultimate goal is to become leader of The First Order himself, and he will do anything to try and get Kylo out of the way - even jeopardise their whole operation.

The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi made it clear that Hux despises Ren, so bringing this conflict to a close seems like a pretty smart thing for Episode IX to do.
