The Redditor who crafted this theory prefaced the whole thing by mentioning that they were high when they came up with it, which does explain a lot.

User Powderbones reckons that the dark cave on Ahch-To was literally showing Rey who her parents were - "herself." She is a clone, meaning that her mummy and daddy are just alternate versions of her.

Powderbones goes one step further and adds that the Rey clones may have been created using Palpatine's DNA, which explains her strong Force powers, as well as the pull of the dark that she feels which sends her towards the cave in the first place.

Why It's Outlandish: The point of Rey seeing only herself within the walls of the cave isn't that she's a clone; it's that she has to stop thinking about the past and her parents, and start relying on herself, building her own identity and pushing forward.

Plus, the revelation that Rey is a clone would be one hell of an eye-roller. That's the first thing most people would think of when they watch the cave scene, so the idea is already floating around online, making it a bit of a predictable twist.
