1. Everyone Loves Star Wars
If theres one thing the Special Editions showed us, its that Star Wars is still massively popular. There were queues round the block to see the rereleases and the galaxy far far away has never been more in the public consciousness.
What really made the original films as massive as they were was the incredible fervour with which people raved about the movies. In a modern day, with the Internet growing and growing this effect will be compounded; come May next year expect the excitement to be at extreme levels.
There is a danger that in planning a whole trilogy from the beginning (unlike making it up on the fly as with the originals), Lucas could end up making Episode I just the first third of a massive story and not comprehensive in its own right. But even if he does, then well be just happy to be in the galaxy far far away for a couple more hours.
