Star Wars Episode VII: 10 Things It Can Do Better Than The Originals
9. Avoid Special Edition-Style Additions
The changes to the Star Wars trilogy in the Special Editions weren't in the original releases, but given that George Lucas himself has stated that this is how he believes they should really be seen, it's fair to comment on these differences. Boy did most of them suck. From needlessly cluttered shots of Mos Eisley with completely over the top CG creatures filling the scene, to making it so that Greedo shot first in the cantina sequence with Han Solo (thus removing his deliciously ambiguous moral character trait), pretty much everything Lucas altered made the trilogy worse rather than better. If you really want to see why the makers of Episode VII should avoid everything done in the Special Editions just check out Return Of The Jedi and watch the song and dance routine in Jabba's palace - it's all the proof you need that Lucas should have left well alone.
