Star Wars Episode VII: 7 Things We Learned In 2013
2. Production Will Take Place At Pinewood Studios And In Los Angeles, CA
Pinewood Studios is located in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire outside of London and has been home to a multitude of productions ranging from both television and film since the 1930s. Even though production on Star Wars: Episode VII is believed to begin in Spring 2014, news that this studio would be home base to the film felt like a major announcement of sorts (there have even been rumors that a replica sized Millennium Falcon is being constructed on set for the film). It is well known that JJ Abrams is a West Coast guy and has done all of his work in Hollywood - or at least in the general vicinity. Although not confirmed in 2013, it is believed that shooting will also take place at Albuquerque Studios in New Mexico. Rumors were flying around that Disney was pushing for production at Pinewood Studios and that at one point Abrams would walk away from the project as a result. When all of the smoke settled, it turned out that that production would take place at Pinewood Studios, while the majority of post production would be completed in Los Angeles.
