Star Wars: Episode VIII - 8 Things That Definitely Shouldn't Happen
5. Planets That Are Clones Of Ones We've Already Seen
The Force Awakens didn't exactly inspire with its exploration of the galaxy, far, far away. There was a feeling of "been there, done that" with regards to planets like Jakku and Starkiller Base (essentially it was Hoth II), whilst there were approximately zero locations in the movie that made you say: "Wow." Most of the new locations felt... kind of bland. In defence of George Lucas (something you rarely hear), the filmmaker did at least ensure that the prequel trilogy explored the galaxy throughly and took us to far off places - and planets - that felt bold and new. Naboo, Coruscant, Mustafa... other criticisms of the prequels aside, these were interesting places that we'd never glimpsed before; Lucas never rested on his laurels as far as new locations were concerned - he got creative and kept us awed. So with Episode VIII, Rian Johnson really needs to ensure that audiences aren't transported to new versions of planets that they've already been to, or ensure that planets that are just backdrops and not really part of the story (a woods, a snowfield, a desert). In short, give us some jaw-dropping locations!
