Star Wars: EVERY Movie & TV Show Ranked Worst To Best
5. Return Of The Jedi
We're into the creme-de-la-creme now, and starting off the top five is the last instalment of the original trilogy.
Released in 1983, Return of the Jedi finishes off the epic Rebellion vs Empire arc and packs some genuine emotion weight into its two-hour run time. Anakin Skywalker's return to the Light Side is confidently executed and the battle sequences (something Star Wars has always done very well) are epic and exciting.
It would rank as high as its predecessors if not for the ewoks, who seem an odd choice for the Rebel's new allies. The original treatment for the film called for the final battle to take place on the wookie planet Kashyyyk, and it's safe to say that would have made for a much more effective endgame.
Despite this slight, easily-overlooked flaw, however, Return of the Jedi is a blisteringly fun ride, from the core group's battle with Jabba and his ilk to the final showdowns on Endor and the Death Star. The confrontation between Luke and his father is a great arc to end on and Anakin's sacrifice is terrific.
A near-perfect end to a startling trilogy, it will forever be one of the greats of the franchise.
