It's hard to believe that in a few short years, fans will get to say "hello there" to the legendary Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi once again.

The upcoming Disney+ series called Obi-Wan Kenobi will follow the title character during his time on Tatooine, keeping an eye on a young Luke Skywalker. Actor Ewan McGregor will reprise his iconic role from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episodes II and III, will be returning to the role of Darth Vader for the series as well. The show will be set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, so it will likely serve as a direct follow up to the prequels.

The series will be directed by Deborah Chow, who also helmed two stellar episodes from the first season of The Mandalorian. Joby Harold, writer of King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword, will write the series. Though the show has no confirmed release date, it will start filming in January 2021, so it will mostly likely hit Disney+ sometime in 2022.

Due to Obi-Wan's status as a fan favourite, this is perhaps the most highly anticipated upcoming Star Wars project. Star Wars fans around the world are jumping out of their skin at the chance to see McGregor take on his famous role once again. The series has been in development since 2015 (as a film), with McGregor lying about a potential return to Star Wars until 2019. It looks like his grand homecoming to the franchise will be well worth the wait.
