Star Wars: Everything We Know About George Lucas' Sequel Trilogy
2. Parts Of The Last Jedi Would've Been In VII
While Lucas wanted to do something different and his story outlines weren't used by Disney, elements have made it into the movies. Chief among them is Luke as an old Jedi, on an island where he's found the Jedi Temple, before training a new hopeful in the ways of the Force.
Lucas was shown concept art of the Temple back in 2013, along with the training of a character called Kira (who'd eventually become Rey). And while some fans didn't like Luke in The Last Jedi, the idea of a man who'd been betrayed and lost his way was in Lucas' treatment as well, as noted by Lucasfilm Creative Art Manager Phil Szostak:
Of course, since we know that Luke didn't die until Episode IX in Lucas' plans, Luke's journey back to the Light Side likely would've gone quite differently to how it does in Rian Johnson's movie, with Hidalgo previously tweeting:
"In a very general sense, the original idea of 7 started midway through what we now know as 8."
