Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Big Story Hints In The Title
6. Did The Emperor Survive?
Back in August Ian McDiarmid was rumoured to be reprising his role in Episode VII, and although he has put these rumours to rest by saying he wont be in the film, he has said that he thinks he will appear in a later Star Wars film. How does this set up a plot point for The Force Awakens? Well, Adam Driver is reportedly playing the villain, and if he is to be using the power of the Sith, it would make sense that someone had to teach him how to harness this ancient and sinister power. Could the Emperor have survived his fall in Episode VI and have hidden himself away, regaining his strength and planning to regain control of his lost empire? Is the awakening a reference to the return of Palpatines evil ambitions? This would again require the Jedi to summon their strength in order to defeat this evil force. The Emperor does not have to appear in the film, but he could be referenced and then appear in a later film as the mastermind behind these evil events, much like The Phantom Menace.
