7. Is Luke Missing?

This rumour has existed for a while. it essentially says that Luke Skywalker has gone missing, and a group of young Jedi recruits will go searching for him, teaming up with the original cast in an attempt to find the missing hero. €˜Awakens€™ suggests the sudden onset of a powerful force: it doesn€™t sound like whoever the Force is awakening within is prepared for the power they will be bestowed with. The Force Awakens could again be linked to new Jedi€™s finding their powers, but the rumour that Luke would be missing has gained strength through the title. It would explain why there is a sudden awakening, rather than Luke teaching them how to deal with their powers in a controlled environment. This plot point would mean we get to see these new characters thrive alone, and it would mean that the original cast are held in reverence without being the main focus of the film. Given that The Force Awakens will be set thirty years after Return of the Jedi, it is reasonable to assume that by this point Luke Skywalker would be an extremely powerful Jedi; any villain capable of capturing and holding him would be a formidable foe, and this would again force the new cast to awaken a dormant power to defeat the villain.
