Alden Ehrenreich was one of the later-known additions to the Han Solo shortlist, not named alongside the more populist likes of Dave Franco and Miles Teller, but that doesn't mean he was a last minute entrant. In fact, he was the very first person they auditioned.

The search for Han Solo was famously massive, taking in pretty much any white male actor in the 20-30 age bracket, spanning the globe and taking unknown casting director hours, yet in the end it was the first guy through the door. Lord and Miller made copious jokes about how they wasted so much money on the endeavour, although it's better to be safe than sorry.
