It's so easy to forget in the excitement of the casting that Han Solo isn't going to be in cinemas 2018, before which there's a whole other two Star Wars movies coming out. It's very early days for the early days Han Solo.

As it stands, Lord and Miller are currently working the script with Lawrence and John Kasdan as they move into pre-production, designing all the creatures that'll appear in the film ahead of starting filming in early 2017 (so that's when you can expect to see Ehrenreich in costume).

This pretty much mirrors the development of Episode VIII and Rogue One, and suggests that Lucasfilm are slotting into a standard production pattern, making everything feel like a well-oiled machine.
