New Star Wars: The Force Awakens IMAX Poster Is The Best Yet

Rey and BB-8 want you to visit Jakku on the biggest screen imaginable.

Are you seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX? You probably should be - not only does laser projection mean the format is the best it's ever been (and, trust me, Star Wars footage looks jaw-dropping when crisply projected on that massive screen), but an entire sequence of the film (the Escape from Jakku) was actually shot using IMAX cameras, meaning an bigger, more vision-dominating image. This new IMAX poster puts that idea front and centre, although what really speaks is its striking imagery - Rey and BB-8 walk across the desert of Jakku as the planet's sun sets. It's classic Star Wars, but not as you know it - we've got a new type of astromech, a female hero and a single sun. I really dig the official one-sheet for the film, as well as the more artsy cinema-exclusive posters from the US, but the beautiful simplicity of this one probably edges it. Take a proper look at it down below and see if you can extrapolate any big plot reveals from it - could the way she's holding the staff indicate who here real family is? There's another variation for the US, only with that day later release day. That's not really important, but it's always nice to remember us UK Star Wars fans are in for a fun twenty-four hours of feigned superiority.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in cinemas and IMAX from 17th December in the UK and 18th December in the US.
