Star Wars: Ranking All The Movie Endings From Worst To Best
5. Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith
Revenge of the Sith is the best movie of the prequels as it features all the awesome stuff we'd been waiting and waiting to see through the previous two films; the downfall of the Jedi and the moment Anakin Skywalker finally turns to the Dark Side and becomes Darth Vader.
The movie feels dark and there is sense of foreboding throughout, but again the over-reliance on CGI and a lack of character development robs the finale of some of its power. The lightsaber duels between Yoda and Palpatine, and Obi-Wan and Anakin feel suitably epic, although both end in bizarre fashion. The moment when Anakin finally embraces the Dark Side and murders the younglings is a powerful one, as is the transformation of the badly burned Anakin into the masked Darth Vader. The less said about Vader's climactic 'NOOOOOOOO' the better though.
The final moments of Episode III may not have quite been everything we'd hoped for but the conclusion feels like it matters and sets the stage nicely for the events of A New Hope.
