Star Wars: Ranking Every Major Death From Worst To Best

10. General Grievous

The Death: General Grievous meets his match in Revenge of the Sith when Obi-Wan Kenobi shoots him on Utapau, using a blaster the cyborg picked up just moments before.

Ranking Explained: There’s no denying that Grievous is a super cool character. He duels with four lightsabers picked up from countless unfortunate Jedi over the years and, due to training dished out by Count Dooku, he is more than a match for Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker during the early parts of Revenge of the Sith as the Jedi aim to ‘rescue’ Chancellor Palpatine.

However, despite the fact he oozes villainy, Grievous’ introduction all seems rather pointless. His death itself is stylishly put together with his battle with Kenobi one of Revenge of the Sith’s standout moments, marking an end to the Clone Wars that had been raging in the Galaxy in the process. Unfortunately, though, It was another example of George Lucas throwing something into his prequel trilogy for political, rather than plot, reasons as well.

His death takes place at a time where Anakin completes his turn to the dark side - meaning audiences are more focused on the mental battle Skywalker is experiencing, particularly given that was the whole purpose of the prequels anyway.

Sport and Film. I love them both. And I'm extremely lucky to write about two of my biggest passions in life. Most of the time, I'm at the Daily Express newspaper writing about football, tennis and F1. But, when I'm out of there, I let my imagination run wild and pen down my thoughts on the film series' I love. WhatCulture gives me the chance to write about the movie industry - an industry I really care about. And for that, I'm extremely grateful. And hope you, if you're reading this, enjoy what I think about stuff.
