Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Major Concerns From Trailer 3

7. Bringing Back Darth Vader Is Pointless

Darth Vader is arguably the most recognised asthmatic robot-man in cinema. No, he is the most recognised, no arguments. He's the character the whole Star Wars saga is based around so his appearance here is not exactly a surprise... it could just be end up being needless.

The trailers so far have given us some very promising glimpses of Ben Mendelsohn's Diretor Orson Krennic and so far he looks to be a scenery-chewing marvel of a villain. Rogue One could have just given us him and been done with it, but I suppose Disney need to sell some more Vader dolls so instead we have two major villains. Vader could be playing second fiddle to Krennic but even then he casts a pretty big shadow.

Not only this, but we haven't seen Vader since we saw the mask placed on the face of Hayden Christensen's whiny Anakin Skywalker, and like it or not, narrative proximity means this Vader is basically that same guy.

Try not to look at this reintroduced Vader without picturing Christensen's feather-haired wuss yelling and complaining about sand. It's horribly distracting.

Whether tainted by the prequels or not, the addition of such a major character amongst these unknowns will be all anyone talks about if they mess it up. So, here's hoping they pull it off.
