Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Major Concerns From Trailer 3

6. The Lack Of Jedi & The Force

The Force and the Jedi, Jedi and The Force: ingredients as crucial to the Star Wars formula as the wars going on among the stars. The sound of the lightsaber 'vwooming' around and clashing together is the one thing that every single person on planet Earth knows about Star Wars, and yet all of that is lacking from this most recent trailer and all other promo material so far.

We've been told several times by those involved with the film that the Jedi are taking a back seat for Rogue One and this alone is certainly a concern. Who knows whether the film will be a success without the warrior space-monks carrying at least some part of it.

Though, somewhat contrary to what we have been told, this newest trailer does feature a place called Jeddah, which is home to an important Jedi temple. Paired with (the great) Donnie Yen referencing the Force suggests they haven't been forgotten completely, which merely raises further concerns. Hinting at the Jedi could lead to audience members pining for the familiar and realising the distinct lack of lightsabers in the first place.

Hopefully the film will be strong enough without the Jedi, but at this point it could go either way.
