Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Major Concerns From Trailer 3
4. Will The Gang Be Lost In The Crowd?
Star Wars has always managed to nail the ensemble cast of characters. Luke, Han and Leia & co., Rey, Finn and BB-8 and co., Qui-gonn Jinn, Obi-Wan and Jar Jar...
The Rogue One squadron is obviously going to be made up of a few characters by definition. Objectively this is quite a few characters to be introduced and more importantly make us give a sh*t about before they all inevitably die.
If this Summer's Suicide Squad has taught us anything it's that balance matters, as the two main characters were pushed into the foreground leaving the other characters behind. Sadly, so far Rogue One looks a bit like the Jyn show.
With the cast that's be assembled of Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Diego Luna and others, it would be a real shame if they aren't all given the opportunity to leave an impression. As it stands it's difficult to see how they will find the time to do this and the trailer doesn't alleviate the feeling that Rogue One is overcrowded.
