4. Galen Erso Wanted To Change The Universe

The Celebration Stage erupted when Mads Mikkelsen came on stage. Although it's kinda strange that he turned up given how little he's allowed to say.

He was able to re-confirm that he's playing Galen Erso, Jyn's father, and that the relationship will play a big part in the story, but when asked if he could reveal anything else, he said a straight-up "no". When pushed, however, he was able to say Galen was a scientist who had created something "beautiful and fantastic" that he'd hope would change the universe.

As the Oppenheimer comparison has been thrown around so much, we know that thing is probably an essential part of the Death Star, although I'd say his secrecy hides something bigger; this kinda plays into the theory that saving him from Imperial clutches is the object of the mission.
