Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Reasons It's Awesome
2. Michael Giacchino's Score
It's well-documented that Rogue One had a rickety production, with massive re-shoots significantly altering the end product, and this also resulted in original composer Alexandre Desplat being unable to finish his work on the movie.
As a result, Michael Giacchino was brought on-board to score the movie in September, having just four-and-a-half weeks to write the movie's music, and as such it's a pleasant surprise that the score came out as well as it did.
Given that Giacchino received recent criticism for his Doctor Strange score lifting rather liberally from his previous Star Trek score, it's a relief that he finds a firm balance between homaging John Williams' iconic work and laying his own aural foundation.
Considering most fans were probably expecting a heavily recycled score given the time constraints, Giacchino did a splendid job placing his own stamp on the Star Wars world.
