9. Director Orson Krennic
The Sith and the dark side have long been the foundations for every villain up until this point. Although the foundations of the Empire are rooted in the evil, the mystical side of the Force takes a backseat this time around.
Fans will be introduced to Director Orson Krennic, the Imperial mastermind behind the construction and completion of the Death Star. While Rogue One will not have a traditional opening crawl, it will feature a flashback sequence with Krennic setting up the foundation of the film.
Krennic represents a new kind of villain for the franchise. He will be an ambitious character who seeks favor with the Emperor, attempting to rise within the Imperial ranks and advance his own position. Krennic may not believe his actions are completely nefarious, but it will be clear how far he's willing to go to achieve his objective.
