And finally, by far the movie's most WTF moment is the peculiar decision to prominently feature Grand Moff Tarkin in the film, with his face recreated from distractingly sub-par CGI, while Guy Henry does an admittedly amazing job of replicating Tarkin's voice.

Though the scenes shot in low-light in which Tarkin speaks to Krennic are basically fine, Gareth Edwards oddly chooses a lot of close-ups which only emphasise the distracting uncanny valley effect of the CGI.

Again, much like the attempt to create a period-appropriate Leia, it just isn't up to the required standard to be convincing, but may well set an unsettling precedent moving forward.
