While the conflict between the Jedi and Sith is taking a lesser form in this film, elements of the Force will still be at the forefront of the narrative. Rogue One has been dubbed the "war film" of the Star Wars galaxy - the assumption being that the mystical Force is taking a backseat and not appearing. However, with each new trailer, TV spot, and other forms of media information, this is proving to be more and more inaccurate.

Enter the concept of the Kyber crystal. Used to power the lightsabers of both the Jedi and Sith, Kyber crystals have also been known to power past Sith super weapons. Along with Kyber crystals and their existence, a belief in the power of Force makes sense as well. At this point in the Star Wars timeline, the fall of the Jedi is not too far into the past. Seeing Lyra Erso give her daughter Jyn a necklace with a Kyber crystal is a very interesting plot reveal in this trailer.

The Jedi's existence is still fresh in the minds of those who lived during the Republic days, like Galen Erso and his wife. While Galen and his family appear to be caught up in the events surrounding the Empire, their loyalty to the Jedi and former Republic could come into play. Is it possible the crystal Lyra gives to Jyn has a deeper meaning? Or from the lightsaber of a once fallen Jedi friend?
