6. The Emperor

I don't know about you, but I was expecting to get a little tease of Darth Vader in this trailer - some heavy breathing, a quick shot of his mask or a couple of words from James Earl Jones - but bar a couple of notes from Imperial March at the end, nadda.

What we get as compensation though, is the Emperor.

That has to be Palpatine - he has the thick black cloak and his red Imperial Guards - who has been rumoured to be a very distant string-puller in the film. Which begs the question, what is he doing here? It could be the other side of his hologram transmitter, although that looks more like a medical tube. Is Vader in there? Or is going to be a MacGuffin that operates besides the main plot? What if stealing the plans was a by-product of a mission with a totally different goal?

I can say one thing with certainty though - it's been put in the trailer to feed months of speculation.
