Star Wars: Rogue One Trailer - 9 Things The Teaser Didn't Show
1. Darth Vader
It's not like anybody actually expected Darth Vader to turn up in this teaser anyway, did they?
After all, the iconic villain hasn't even been officially confirmed for an appearance in Rogue One, so it wasn't though any fans really believed Vader was going to randomly appear in the only footage we've been afforded to date - that'd be insane.
That said, there are a few moments that are perhaps supposed to make subtle references to Vader, like that brief shot of a cloaked figure (which could very well be the Emperor - or anyone) and the inklings of "The Imperial March" theme at the very end.
It would probably be a huge mistake on the studio's part if they've opted not to include Vader in Rogue One at all (we need him to come back, even if it's just in a mere cameo!). Of course, if he is in the film, Disney weren't going to spoil the surprise by revealing him here: that would have made for a briefly exciting but ultimately stupid move.
Vader having a role in the flick makes sense, at least; at the time of the film, he's well-embedded in the Imperial faction, and - as we already know by way of events depicted in Episode IV - he will be deeply irritated at the end of Rogue One when he realises that the Death Star plans have been well and truly stolen.
Bring him on, I say. Just - following on from the examples set by this teaser - make sure not to reveal that he's going to be in the movie in any further trailers; let's keep it as a surprise, shall we?
