Star Wars: Rogue One - Who Lives, Who Dies (And Why)

7. Captain Cassian Andor

ROGUE ONE
Lucasfilm

If there's any character in Rogue One whom embodies the Alliance to Restore the Republic, it's Cassian Andor. Responsible for apparently freeing Jyn Erso, Andor is the one responsible for looking after Jyn on their mission to steal the Death Star plans.

Andor comes across as the most seasoned fighter of the group in Rogue One. It's clear the Alliance trusts him with this most pressing mission and while Jyn carries the story, Andor will be the one who carries the mission. Aside from Jyn, Andor's character and backstory will be the most interesting of the entire lot.

Fate: Dies

Like all freedom fighters, they're always prepared to die for the cause they fight for. It's plausible at the start of Rogue One, Andor is already a seasoned warrior within the Alliance to restore the Republic.

His assignment to babysit Jyn, while obtaining the Death Plans, is not out of happenstance but by merit: He is their best operative. By films end, Andor has to make the ultimate sacrifice for the cause to complete the job or save his friends.
