Star Wars: Rogue One - Who Lives, Who Dies (And Why)

Making the first official jump from the small screen to the big screen is Forest Whitaker's representation of Saw Gerrera. As if fans weren't excited enough to see Whitaker in the Star Wars galaxy, his live action interpretation of Gerrera adds another element to the franchise. With much of the future hindering on the success of Rogue One, it's a safe bet Gerrera won't be the last character making the jump.

Unlike much of the cast of Rogue One, Gerrera is one of the few characters with an established past fans know. Gerrera made his Star Wars debut during the fourth season of The Clone Wars animated series.

Dwelling from the planet Onderon, Gerrera's story focused on a band of rebels fighting the droid armies of the Separatists in an effort to force them from their home. Flash forward to the events of Rogue One and it appears Gerrera has switched his focus to the Galactic Empire.

Fate: Dies

Saw Gerrera will most likely represent a passing of the torch from one generation of rebel fighters to another. His character represents a hold over from the days of the Clone Wars while bridging the gap between the two eras.

Gerrera appears to be located on the planet Jedha and may play a pivotal role in a rebel uprising there. It's also possible he meets his end during the weapons test the Empire performs on the planet.
