Star Wars: Rogue One - Who Lives, Who Dies (And Why)
5. K-2SO
The Star Wars galaxy is full of automated companions. All three trilogies are rife with droids who speak to the main characters using a series of beeps and boops. From R2-D2 to the newly introduced BB-8, astromech droids are major players in the overall narrative. Rogue One will be different as one of the main characters, Cassian Andor, has a bipedal mechanized friend more in line with C-3P0 than either R2-D2 or BB-8.
As is par for the course in any espionage thriller, there's usually a guarantee for a flip-flop member on a team. In Rogue One, that member is K-2SO, a companion droid re-programmed by Andor to serve the Rebel cause. Although his role is unknown at this point, K-2 will most likely serve as the comic relief in what is assumed to be a very serious film.
Fate: Lives
With so much death being predicted for the main cast, K-2 has to give audiences some hope, right? Even if the droids consciousness doesn't make it all the way through the film, Andor's companion will at least make it to the final act. With that being said, lets hope the fate of K-2 lives beyond the film and into the pages of the newly created Expanded Universe.
