Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Fears Alleviated By The Teaser Trailer

4. There's A Genuinely Intriguing Villain

The Fear: We'd get the same generic villains that plagued the prequel trilogy. Why The Teaser Eased That Fear: The problem with the Star Wars franchise is that it contains the greatest cinematic villain of all time - one who, if asked to be entirely honest, will probably never be topped or beaten by another movie in the saga (or another movie in general). Darth Vader is about as iconic as villains come, after all, and given that the character comes tied with a huge, thirty year legacy... well, that's a lot of pressure, isn't it? At least Episode VII doesn't have much competition in the way of villains and the prequel trilogy, given that - aside from Darth Maul, who was killed off before he became truly interesting - there weren't any memorable ones. The new teaser offers up a truly interesting-looking bad guy, though; one who feels instantly like a threat, what with his woodland stalking and that bizarre, religiously-inclined lightsaber.
