Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Things Everybody Missed In The New Trailer
3. An Imperial Base Built Into A Rock Face
Not since Boba Fett was warned off disintegration has Star Wars had such an effortlessly bad-ass character as the Chrometrooper. In fact, this new character (rumoured to be played by Gwendoline Christie) is so instantly cool that some people have even theorised it actually is the galaxy's most famed bounty hunter (even though in this version of the timeline Boba's still slowly digesting away in the Sarlacc). That may not be true, but the Chrometrooper is still awesome enough that it's easy to ignore what's in the rest of this shot because of its focus' reflective allure. You see, while the corridor Ol' Chromie's walking down is clearly an Imperial base, complete with Death Star-style panelling, it's partially built into what appears to be a rock-side. The red-lighting could suggest this is on the previously seen lava planet, although that appears to actually be from artificial lighting. This is nicely reminiscent of various Expanded Universe garrisons, such as Ruusan from Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight; a nice call-out to a now defunct part of the canon.
