Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Big Reveals Hidden In The New Images

7. Finn's Arrival On Jakku

A key focal point of the Comic-Con behind-the-scenes reel was the image of a crashed TIE fighter, shown in its conception, miniature and full-scale forms to highlight The Force Awakens' classical approach to special effects. Although it would have been easy to assume this was part of the the Battle of Jakku (which littered the planet's face with Star Destroyers), it now appears that it's actually going to play a large part in the film's plot; in a wonderful composite of various levels of effects, this still shows Finn approaching the newly crashed fighter. I'm inclined to say that Boyega isn't the pilot, given that he's not wearing traditional TIE pilot gear and appears to be running towards the wreck, although it would make some sense if this was how he escaped from his Imperial life (tying into that shot in the second teaser of a TIE turning on stormtroopers). Either way, this is clearly from his John Boyega's first scene on Jakku, before he meets Rey and enters the bigger battle. Also notice the protruding gun from the wreckage. Previous standard issue TIEs didn't have this form of blaster, showing one of the First Order's new design elements.
